2019 NFL Draft: 5 Teams with the most to gain
The stakes are different for all 32 teams in the 2019 NFL Draft, but which five teams have the most to gain in Nashville starting on April 25?
The 2019 NFL Draft is less than a week away. Every team is looking for a few good men to help their football team now and for the future. That’s what draft day is all about. The thing is, not all 32 teams are created equal. And for some, the stakes are higher.
There are teams looking to take that next step to a winning record, while some need to protect their franchise quarterback and others need to find one. Then there are the elite teams, the teams with Super Bowl aspirations and realistic chance to make it.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, though, who are the teams with the most to gain from the 2019 NFL Draft?
5. Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders made themselves the most exciting team to watch on draft day. After trading away two of their best players, they have three first-round picks. Whether or not they end April 25 with all three picks remains to be seen.
Nevertheless, they can make those who laughed at them during the season look foolish. The Raiders can come away with three plug-and-play players at positions of need. They have an opportunity to draft a dynamic, game-changing linebacker in Devin White. As the draft goes on, corners are likely to fall which allows them to get a corner like Byron Murphy, Deandre Baker or Rock Ya-Sin. With the 27th and 35th picks, the Raiders can add offensive talent.
Players that could help them immediately are running backs David Montgomery or Josh Jacobs. The wide receiver and tight end depth in this draft class allows the Raiders to potentially grab an impact guy as well with either of those picks. There’s also the off chance Mike Mayock decides to trade their picks.
All teams wanting to wait for a quarterback next year could stockpile picks. Of all the teams in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Raiders are in the best position. The Raiders have the most to gain.
