Michael Dogbe has so many of the qualities to love about Ed Oliver but is available significantly later. He’s incredibly athletic, had excellent production and he just plays with a terrific motor and relentless effort. Beyond that, Dogbe has a track record of being a leader and making those around him better.
Dogbe played up and down the line at Temple, playing the nose and doing his best to clog up multiple blockers to sliding over to shoot gaps and attack the quarterback. In the NFL, his home is likely to be as a three but could theoretically play base end in a pinch. He can play the run but his length isn’t ideal to be out there.
Dogbe is the guy who comes in and is the Energizer Bunny. If opposing offensive linemen let up when he comes in for Sheldon Richardson or Larry Ogunjobi, Dogbe will punish them for it. His size belies how powerful he is much as it does with Oliver, but while he may have some trouble anchoring and holding his ground against double teams, he flashes the ability to collapse the pocket with power, finishing it with agility.
Dogbe has the potential to be a starter or more in the NFL, but he really seems ideal to be a role player in the Browns defensive line to keep up the athleticism and energy. He should fit in really well with the types of defensive linemen the Browns have like Myles Garrett and Larry Ogunjobi in terms of their intelligence and work ethic to get better.
