12. Green Bay Packers: D.K. Metcalf, WR, Ole Miss

Before the offseason got underway, the Green Bay Packers seemed destined to be targeting an edge rusher at No. 12. Then, the free agency period opened up and they made a couple of big moves in that department by signing Preston Smith from the Washington Redskins and Za’Darius Smith from the Baltimore Ravens.

Their contracts indicate that Green Bay is completely sold on them as their primary pass rushers, so they go in a different direction here and select D.K. Metcalf, the Ole Miss wideout who tore up the Scouting Combine.

Metcalf missed a lot of time as a junior due to a serious neck injury. There were originally questions about how he would bounce back but he put those concerns to rest with authority by dominating every drill and running a blazing 4.33 in the 40-yard dash despite being 228 pounds. Metcalf also put up a 27 in the bench rep, which proves he has the strength of a tight end.

With Aaron Rodgers entering the later portions of his career, and Green Bay adding a new coach in Matt LaFleur now seems like the perfect time for them to try and become the dangerous offense they were a couple of seasons ago when they had so many receiving threats.
