7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida

At No. 7, the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the clock and they’re trying to get the sour taste of a lost season out of their mouths. After making it to the AFC Championship game following the 2017 season, the Jags were a favorite pick of many in the conference this season. However, they looked like a shell of themselves on both sides of the ball.

Defensively, they just seemed to tire out from having to carry the load due to an ineffective offense. The same players who were dominant the year prior just seemed a step away at all times and never got things rolling. As for their offense, everything was bad.

Blake Bortles was given an extension following a decent campaign but that proved to be a mistake as he took a step backward. Also falling off was running back Leonard Fournette who looked nothing like a previous No. 4 overall pick.

Jacksonville hopes to have big improvements this season thanks in large part to the departure of Bortles and signing of former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles. After winning a title for the Eagles following 2017, Foles was around for one more season with Philly and had more late-season success. Now, he’s about to be the face of a franchise.

In order to help him succeed, the Jaguars land Florida offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor. This is high for a right tackle, but the same thing was said of Mike McGlinchey before the 49ers took him at No. 9 this past season. Like McGlinchey, Taylor is one of the safest picks in the draft. He’s a mauler on the right side and will be a starter from the moment he shows up in camp.
