The Cleveland Browns could be AFC contenders this season if all goes well. But who should general manager John Dorsey aim to avoid in the 2019 NFL Draft?

Right now, the Cleveland Browns are in a better place than they’ve been in the past two decades. With a budding star at quarterback in Baker Mayfield, bountiful weapons on offense, and a potentially lethal defensive unit, the Browns are set up for serious success. A flurry of moves in the offseason has made them into potential AFC contenders for 2019, and they still have the 2019 NFL Draft ahead of them.

That being said, this draft is of utmost importance for the Browns. Despite their head-spinning amount of acquisitions in the offseason, they still have a few holes to fill. Without a first-round pick, general manager John Dorsey is going to have to get crafty with his selections this time around. Luckily for Cleveland, Dorsey aced the middle rounds last year, picking up running back Nick Chubb in the second and linebacker Genard Avery in the fifth.

The Browns are so close, and they simply cannot risk the roster falling apart at this point. The Dawg Pound knows just how costly a bad draft class can be, and although there’s very little chance of it totally sabotaging the team, it’s best to keep clear of bad apple prospects in any case.

If the Browns nail the draft like they did last year, they’ll be perfectly set up for 2019. But, the Browns don’t have two top-five selections this season. The middle rounds can get a bit dicey at times, and the Browns should work to avoid these three prospects.
