Round 6: Will Harris, S, Boston College

The Jaguars select Will Harris as the 178th overall pick of the draft. Harris played collegiately at Boston College. Expect Harris to play on special teams. In college, Harris appeared in 47 games. He made a total of 225 tackles. Harris intercepted five passes. He was voted by his teammates to be a team captain in 2018.

Harris had an impressive NFL Combine performance. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds. He bench pressed 225 pounds 20 times. He stood 6-1, weighing 207 pounds.

Harris will need time to become a starter for the Jaguars. He will become the fifth safety on the current team roster. Jacksonville has re-booted their safety positions in the past season. Taushan Gipson and Barry Church were the starting safeties in the 2017 season. Church was replaced any Ronnie Harrison last fall. Gipson and Church are not on the Jaguars roster.

The Jaguars have begun a youth movement to the secondary. Harris will be part of that youth movement. However, he will have to do time covering kicks on special teams until he can develop into a player that the coaching staff can feel comfortable in as part of the safety rotation on defense.
