Oakland Raiders: John Madden, Marcus Allen, Ken Stabler, Howie Long
Originally an AFL team, the Oakland Raiders‘ history dates back to 1960 and has included time in both Oakland and Los Angeles. In 2020, they’re supposed to move to Las Vegas, which could add even more fans to their famed ‘Raider Nation’. While they are coming off a rough season in 2018, the Raiders have had a lot of success in their existence and have plenty of big names to choose from for this enshrinement.
John Madden is the initial name to get honored. Most know him now because his name is on the only NFL video game that has the rights to player’s names, but way before that became popular, Madden was a fantastic head coach.
He only roamed the sidelines for 10 seasons, but never had a losing season and was 103-32-7 overall. He also guided them to their first-ever Super Bowl win after the 1976 season.
That championship came with Ken Stabler under center and the team was 69-26-1 overall with him playing quarterback. He finds himself in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and was also a one-time NFL MVP — which came in 1974.
Oakland’s Mount Rushmore features two more Super Bowl winners in running back Marcus Allen and Howie Long — with Allen even earning MVP honors for his play in Super Bowl XVIII. The former NFL MVP also earned a rushing title and was the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1982.
Long spent his entire career with the Raiders, making eight Pro Bowls as a member of the Silver and Black. He was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1985 and has since been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
