Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace didn’t divulge any secrets in his pre-draft press conference but released some interesting information.

On Tuesday, Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace had his annual pre-NFL Draft press conference. He only has five picks and none until late in the third round in 2019, but he’s sure to shake things up a bit. He’s done so in all his drafts in Chicago.

Pace likes the wheeling and dealing that the draft brings. Which way will he go, however? Without any glaring holes in the roster, he can go either way. He can move up and take a prospect he feels can really contribute. On the other hand, this is a deep draft, so he can move down, pick up some additional picks, and still acquire talent to improve the roster.

Of course, Pace didn’t reveal anything ground shaking. This is the period of secrecy and false news, so Pace kept his hand close to the vest. He didn’t even say anything but “It’s good” when discussing something as simple as the draft’s depth at running back. That’s not to say that we can’t gather some information from what he did say.

Many feel the Bears are going a certain way in the draft. What Pace showed in his time in Chicago is that he goes with the flow of the draft. He isn’t just set in one way. He stays flexible enough to get his target. That is, though, unless he finds a player he really loves. In that case, he’ll try to move heaven and earth to get that player. Give up a king’s ransom to move up just one spot? Sure; he did it before and he’ll probably do it again sometime.

Here are some tidbits we got from Pace’s final press conference before the 2019 NFL Draft.
