2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kinnan’s final first-round projection
By Cory Kinnan
In what turns out to be a mini-slide for Devin White, he lands on his feet with the Denver Broncos with the 10th overall pick. While it is possible the Broncos could select quarterback Drew Lock, they more than likely would have hired an offensive minded coach to handle a rookie quarterback.
Instead, the Broncos hired former Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and he must be chomping at the bit to have the opportunity to draft an elite defensive player like White. After the Broncos moved on from middle linebacker Brandon Marshall, this LSU linebacker and Butkus Award winner could just provide them a quick replacement.
At the combine, White looked like he was riding his personal horse as he blazed his way to a 4.42-second 40-yard dash after weighing in at 237 pounds. He also hit nearly 40 inches on his vertical jump, ranking him in the 93rd percentile among linebackers.
While some believe White will land at either the fourth or fifth overall pick with the Raiders or Buccaneers, they both take players at positions of a much higher premium than linebacker, leaving White to fall to the edge of the top 10. Denver, however, is not upset about the side as they land an elite athlete to lead the middle of their defense into the 2019 season.
