2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kinnan’s final first-round projection
By Cory Kinnan
The concerns about Montez Sweat’s heart do not affect him here as he still lands with the Miami Dolphins with the 13th pick in the draft. While rumors have been coming out Sweat could see a freefall, it is lying season and it is most likely a team picking in the 20s hoping to get him to fall to them. After all, he was cleared to test at the combine, so his issues cannot be career threatening.
Sweat has put together maybe the best pre-draft circuit of anyone. At the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, he went viral for absolutely demolishing a poor offensive tackle during the week of practice and capped it off with a solid performance in the game. He carried his momentum into the combine, where he put on a clinic.
At the combine, Sweat ranked in the 90th percentile or above of all of the EDGE prospects with his measurements in his arm length (35.75 inches; 97th percentile) , hand size (10.5 inches; 92nd percentile) and wingspan (84.75 inches; 92nd percentile) and on the field with his 40-yard dash (4.41 seconds; 99th percentile) and broad jump (125 inches; 92nd percentile). Sweat was also in the 80th percentile or above with his height (6-5.75; 88th percentile), vertical jump (36 inches; 81st percentile) and 3-cone drill (7 seconds; 83rd percentile).
The Dolphins have met with Sweat multiple times, and if he is still on the board with the 13th overall pick in the draft, he will be packing his bags and catching the first flight to Miami.
