Face it Washington, Alex Smith will never play another down of football in his life. If he would have suffered his injury three years earlier, there may have been hope. However, expecting a veteran quarterback to make a comeback by the age of 36 may be wishful thinking.

Adding Case Keenum provides Washington with nothing more than a stop-gap at the quarterback position either, so here with the 15th pick in the draft, they add Missouri quarterback Drew Lock. While it is possible Lock could go in the top-10 once trades are all said and done, he slides outside of that range here.

Lock put himself on the map after a monster junior year at Missouri, but due to the depth of last year’s class, he opted to stay in school for another year. Much to Lock’s dismay, he took a large step back in 2018 and was not even the best looking quarterback at the Senior Bowl.

He does, however, remain the second most athletic quarterback behind Murray and has great arm strength, which still makes him an appealing prospect. Here, Washington hopes to have nailed down the quarterback of the future by selecting the strong armed signal caller Lock.
