2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kinnan’s final first-round projection
By Cory Kinnan
The Titans look to address their defensive front with the 19th pick in the draft and draft Notre Dame defensive tackle Jerry Tillery. Now fully recovered from a shoulder surgery he underwent after the combine, Tillery looks like he could be a first round lock.
Even with a bummed shoulder at the combine, Tillery still managed to press 23 reps on the bench press, and at 6-6.5 tall (98th percentile) and 295 pounds, he broke the 5.0-second mark on his 40-yard dash with a time of 4.93 seconds (87th percentile). Showing great explosiveness, he his 32 inches on his vertical jump, (80th percentile)over nine and a half feet on his broad jump (95th percentile) and a blazing 4.33 seconds on his 20-yard shuttle (93rd percentile).
While Tillery is no Quinnen Williams or Ed Oliver, he is the third overall interior defensive lineman in this class ahead of the Clemson duo of Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence. Having the combination of size and athleticism that Tillery possesses is not a teachable trait and makes him a rare prospect; the Titans cannot pass on him here and take him on the fringe of the top 20.
