2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kinnan’s final first-round projection
By Cory Kinnan
With the seventh pick in the draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars take the first offensive lineman in the draft in the form of Florida’s Jawaan Taylor. While the interior of the Jaguars’ offensive line is fairly solidified, lead by Brandon Linder and Andrew Norwell, they could use an upgrade from Cam Robinson and Wil Richardson.
Taylor gives them flexibility along their front and possibly allows for Robinson to slide over to right tackle and kill two birds with one stone. The top rated tackle in the class, Taylor has massive arms and hands that allow him to shield off opposing edge rushers.
While he did not do any athletic testing at the combine other than the bench press (24 reps), he looked extremely fluid and like the best tackle of the group during the on-field portion of the event. Measuring in at 6-5 and 312 pounds, there is little concern about his size and ability to play tackle in the NFL either.
Keeping him in the state of Florida, the Jaguars give new quarterback Nick Foles some added protection and time to throw with the addition of Taylor. The Jaguars are hoping these two additions can push them back into the AFC title game, where they were just a year ago.
