Round 7, Pick 241: Dre Greenlaw, LB, Arkansas

With their final pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Cowboys take another player who was part of their 30 visits as they select Arkansas linebacker Dre Greenlaw. While this position doesn’t present a glaring need, Dallas does need to add someone at some point during the weekend after losing Damien Wilson in free agency to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wilson’s departure didn’t make a lot of noise but that had more to do with who was remaining on the roster. Sean Lee, who has been one of the best linebackers to ever play for the Cowboys decided to return after reportedly considering retirement. He did so on a reduced deal as injuries have continued to be an issue for him, but he’s also lost some snaps.

This was due to the emergence of rookie Leighton Vander Esch as well as the breakout of Jaylon Smith who was in his second season on the field after a devastating knee injury in his last collegiate game.

As good as that trio is, Dallas needs some bodies to compete for snaps while also helping out on special teams. Greenlaw can help in both areas. He’s a four-year starter who played with above-average quickness and was always around the football.

In his career with the Razorbacks, Greenlaw finished with 321 tackles and three career interceptions.
