23. Houston Texans: Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama

Fortune shines upon the Houston Texans in this mock draft as a player that could wind up being the best of this class at his position, Alabama offensive tackle Jonah Williams, falls to them and allows them to address their most obvious need. The shortcomings of the Texans offensive line have been well-documented as they need to protect Deshaun Watson moving forward. Williams is a great start to change that.

With the versatility to play either tackle or guard, Williams is the perfect prospect for the Texans right now. While he still has growth ahead as a pass-blocker, at least to get that part of his game on-par with his elite run-blocking ability, Williams has the athletic profile of a player who can be a stalwart wherever he plays up front for many years to come, which is something Houston has been sorely lacking.

24. Oakland Raiders (via Bears): Clelin Ferrell, EDGE, Clemson

As Jon Gruden, with hilarious amounts of lacking self-awareness after the Khalil Mack trade, reminded us throughout the 2018 season, pass-rushers are hard to find. After electing to go with Quinnen Williams at No. 4, the Raiders try to address that issue by sticking with the defensive side of the ball, looking at a tremendous value pick by taking Clelin Ferrell out of Clemson.

In truth, it’s hard to totally discern why Ferrell isn’t valued as highly as some of his edge-rusher counterparts in this draft class. The Clemson product may not be a standout, elite athlete, he’s more than capable in that department, while also having a polished arsenal of pass-rush moves and production against elite competition to bolster that feeling. This is a phenomenal pick for the Raiders here and one that should pay immediate dividends — even if he’s not Mack.
