The Dallas Cowboys had to sit and watch the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft but will get in on the action Friday night. Here are five players who could pique their interest.

After a 3-4 start to the 2018 season, the Dallas Cowboys decided they needed to make something happen in order to avoid punting on the whole year. The move they decided would salvage the season was sending their 2019 first round pick to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for Amari Cooper.

This move was mocked ad nauseam with some analysts pointing to similar trades for wide receivers as proof that Dallas messed up. There was the Golden Tate trade from the Detroit Lions to the Philadelphia Eagles for just third round pick. Or, the Demaryius Thomas to the Houston Texans trade that only netted a fourth rounder for the Denver Broncos.

What everyone was ignoring was that those players were on expiring contracts and both over the age of 30. Neither proved to be difference makers for their clubs and both left in free agency, meaning the teams sacrificed draft stock for rental players whereas Dallas picked up a 24-year old who made his third Pro Bowl this season.

That fact made sitting through the first round worth it for Dallas fans since they know that the team did get a solid player for that pick. Another thing that made the first round worthwhile was seeing some talented players remain on the board when the first night came to a close.

The talented players falling can help Dallas find even more value at pick No. 58 in the 2019 NFL Draft — or higher should they decide to make a move up. Whether they decide to stay put and see how the chips fall, or get crazy and start making deals, these are five prospects that could be on their radar Friday night.
