Dallas Cowboys: 5 Draft targets still on board for Day 2
By Randy Gurzi
Adding Amari Cooper last season improved the receiving corps dramatically. They also replaced Cole Beasley with Randall Cobb and expect big things out of second-year wideout Michael Gallup. While all this is true, it doesn’t mean they won’t draft a receiver at 58 if one falls to them.

Here we look at Deebo Samuel, who would have to be a serious consideration if he somehow lasts until 58. At first, this seemed like nonsense, but seeing many of the draft’s top wideouts slide into Day 2 makes it more likely. Samuel makes sense, especially given the way he fits this offense. He’s a home run hitter who creates great separation with his precise route running — plus he can help in the return game if necessary.
"“Explosive player who gets to top speed very quickly. Accelerates away from coverage to create space for throwing windows. Some deceleration at the top of his routes that makes him easier to mirror out of the break for quicker corners. Flashes of varying speed at the top of the route can catch off-coverage corners napping.” — Jon Ledyard, The Draft Network"
Samuel was a star at the Senior Bowl as well, as he put on a clinic with his route running. Better quarterback play in that game — and at South Carolina — would have only made him look better.
