2019 NFL Draft: Grades for every first-round pick
25. Baltimore Ravens: Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, WR, Oklahoma
Grade: A
This trade between the Eagles and Baltimore Ravens really worked out well for both sides. The Eagles did well to attack a future need while the Ravens pick up some extra draft capital and add a big-time playmaker at an obvious hole on their roster. Marquise Brown is a dynamic weapon in the passing game who shows elite speed and quickness on the field. Snagging him at 25 could end up being a major steal for Baltimore.
Lamar Jackson struggled as a passer last season, showing spotty accuracy throughout his rookie year. However, the Ravens did not exactly bless him with a group of elite pass catchers. The Ravens entered the 2019 NFL Draft with the worst wide receiver corps in the entire league, but they took a good step forward when adding Brown to the mix.
Brown is a fantastic route runner who understands how to beat man and zone coverage. He establishes position against the defensive back extremely well and can create separation on a consistent basis. At 5-9, 166 pounds, the size concerns are obvious, but this guy is an absolute playmaker with the ball in his hands.
He is an extremely elusive player who can create yardage after the catch and a huge threat in the deep passing game. Brown also tracks the ball in the air extremely well.
The Ravens will likely move forward as a team that primarily depends on the run. However, with Brown on the field, defenses are going to have to respect the deep passing game. Brown is a special athlete who could really shine at the next level.
