2019 NFL Draft: Day 2 mock draft after completing first round
By Randy Gurzi
49. Cleveland Browns: Taylor Rapp, S, Washington
The Cleveland Browns traded the No. 17 pick in the deal for Odell Beckham, Jr. from the New York Giants. It’s never fun to sit out the first round, but adding someone with his talent made it worth the move. He’s going to bring more to the table than anyone they could have gotten at 17 and they do still land a solid player at No. 49 in Taylor Rapp out of Washington.
The second Husky in a row comes off the board and Cleveland fans will be ecstatic if this works out this way. Rapp is a hard-hitter who could fill the strong safety need for years to come.
50. Minnesota Vikings: Dre’Mont Jones, DT, Ohio State
Kirk Cousins struggled in 2018 despite being in the first year of a three-year, fully guaranteed $84 million deal. While he deserves some blame, the playcalling of John DeFilippo was also an issue. Also a problem was the offensive line, which they hope to have solved by grabbing North Carolina State center Garrett Bradbury.
Now, they get back to work and add Dre’Mont Jones, the Ohio State defensive tackle. Jones will come in and replace Sheldon Richardson, who left in the offseason to join the Browns on a three-year deal.
