2019 NFL Draft: Day 2 mock draft after completing first round
By Randy Gurzi
45. Los Angeles Rams (via Atlanta Falcons): Dalton Risner, OG, Kansas State
After not addressing the offensive guard position the past couple of seasons, the Atlanta Falcons used their 14th pick on Chris Lindstrom who should be a starter at right guard for the next decade. They then traded back into the first for an offensive tackle, which gives the Los Angeles Rams their first pick in this draft here at No. 45.
Now, the Rams take the pick the Falcons gave up and get an even better offensive lineman than who Atlanta traded up for. L.A said they were fine redshirting guys, but Dalton Risner may prove to be too talented for that option.
46. Indianapolis Colts (via Washington Redskins): Jachai Polite, EDGE, Florida
There was some serious talk that Dan Snyder was about to go crazy in this 2019 NFL Draft, which led to speculation that he was jumping up to take Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins. No trades ever took place for the Redskins though, but they ended up with their starting quarterback anyway as Haskins was passed over by the Giants and will now face them twice per season in the NFC East.
Then, the Redskins moved back into the first for Montez Sweat — and completely owned the first round. As for the Colts, it allows them another pick in this round and they take a flier on a kid with a ton of talent but some character concerns in Jachai Polite. If they can get him focused, this is a complete steal. That could be a big “if” though.
