The Dallas Cowboys made their moves in the 2019 NFL Draft which was highlighted by the selection of Trysten Hill. How did that pick, and the others, grade out?

The Dallas Cowboys were without a pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft after trading that selection for wide receiver Amari Cooper.

That left them waiting until Day 2 until they finally went on the clock.

With their first pick in the draft, the Cowboys selected defensive tackle Trysten Hill out of UCF. It was a position of need, but there are some questions about his maturity and football character. He also wasn’t a starter this past season. Still, when you turn on the tape, Hill stands out as a player who can thoroughly disrupt an offensive game plan.

He has a sensational burst, is usually the first player off the snap, and plays with infectious energy. When looking at his highlights, it’s easy to see why Dallas was interested.

Hill’s grade could have been higher if there weren’t those questions around him. The truth is, the Cowboys picked a player who will need to be pushed in order to be a success for them.

Thankfully, that’s something defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has done for the majority of his career. Should he be able to light a fire under Hill, this could end up being a very good pick.
