30 greatest NFL team rivalries of all-time
By Dan Parzych
19. New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons
Even though the Atlanta Falcons took a bit of a step back in 2018 by failing to reach the playoffs, the talent is certainly there for Dan Quinn and company to get back on the right track next season. However, we should expect the New Orleans Saints to be standing in their way, as usual.
After coming up shy of a Super Bowl appearance for a second year in a row, the Saints will be motivated more than ever to win their third NFC South title in a row during the 2019 season, even if the Falcons are standing in their way.
This past season, New Orleans and Atlanta celebrated the 100th meeting between the two teams during an epic battle on Thanksgiving in which the Saints escaped with a 31-17 victory.
Unfortunately, New Orleans still trails in the all-time series 52-48, but with the team having the edge at the moment as a strong contender in the NFC, that could very well change over the next couple of years.
Most likely, the NFC South will see one of these two teams finish on top during the 2019 season. And with the Falcons and Saints squaring off twice in a four-week span in November, this sets up for an epic final month of the regular season before the real action begins in January.
