18. Oakland Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Just how old is the rivalry between the Oakland Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers? Well, when looking at how these two teams were in the same division before the official AFL-NFL merger even took place, this shows the Raiders and Chargers go way back.
While Los Angeles has been fortunate enough to be more successful as of late, Oakland certainly has them beat in the overall picture, whether it’s their three Super Bowl title or simply winning the all-time series (63-54-2).
That’s right, the Raiders and Chargers even have two ties to their rivalry. This can be quite uncommon at the NFL level, even if there were two over the first two weeks during the 2018 season.
After the Chargers settled for a Wild Card spot last year, do the Raiders have what it takes to turn things around during Jon Gruden’s second season since returning as head coach? Does he have what it takes to lead this team the second time around?
Oakland certainly looks like a work in progress after finishing near the bottom of the league in 2018. But thanks to a successful offseason that saw the team acquire a top receiver in Antonio Brown, Los Angeles will have their work cut out for them.
