30 greatest NFL team rivalries of all-time
By Dan Parzych
6. Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Oakland Raiders
Back in the 1970s, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders were considered one of the top rivalries in the NFL thanks to all of their appearances in the playoffs together.
Now that Antonio Brown is no longer a member of the Steelers following a trade to the Raiders this offseason, it will be interesting to see if this rivalry receives an extra spark moving forward after looking at some of the drama.
Never in a million years did anyone imagine that Brown would ever leave Pittsburgh. The speedy wideout seemed to have it made big being part of a top offense in the league. And after seeing how things played out towards the end of his time with the Steelers, it’s going to take some time for fans to forgive the receiver for what he did.
Since these two teams won’t actually face off against one another during the regular season in 2019, Pittsburgh and Oakland will have to find a way to meet during the playoffs, even if that seems like a long shot at the moment.
At least with Brown part of the mix for the Raiders, this will hopefully put Oakland in a better position to be a contender in the AFC. However, the pressure is on the Steelers as well after seeing how things played out for them last year, as they failed to reach the postseason.
