29. New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins

In a division where the New England Patriots receive most of the attention, the rivalry between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins is considered to be one of the most underrated in the NFL.

The Jets may have the upper hand at the moment. They finally addressed their situation at quarterback by landing Sam Darnold in the 2018 NFL Draft. At least the Dolphins finally made the overdue decision of moving on from Ryan Tannehill this offseason.

Believe it or not, this rivalry goes all the way back to 1966 when the Jets pulled off the 19-14 win over the Dolphins. New York has the edge in the all-time rivalry with a 54-51-1 record.

Looking at how close these two teams are to being even in the wins column, this is just another example behind how the Jets and Dolphins don’t always receive the credit they deserve in the rivalry department when compared to others.

There have been plenty of great battles over the years between these two AFC East teams, but nothing tops the meeting in the AFC Championship during the 1982 season. The Dolphins embarrassed the Jets with a 14-0 victory to punch their ticket to Super Bowl XVII.

Coming up short the way they did to the Washington Redskins was a tough pill for Miami to swallow, but at least preventing New York from playing in Super Bowl XVII that year made the Dolphins feel a little better about what took place.
