30 greatest NFL team rivalries of all-time

28. Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers
How long has the rivalry between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers gone on for? The fact that these two teams first met in 1930 when the Lions were the Portsmouth Spartans before eventually becoming part of the same division in 1933 shows this is one of the oldest rivalries in the NFL.
Over the last two seasons, Detroit has been able to take advantage of Green Bay’s struggles by winning the last four contests, but it hasn’t always been easy.
Not too long ago, it was the Packers who would constantly make it look easy when facing the Lions. They won 10 games in a row from 2005 to 2010, with Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers of course playing a big factor in their team’s success.
Even after the winning streak came to an end, Rodgers has found numerous ways to still haunt the Lions. His famous 61-yard Hail Mary to Richard Rodgers in December 2015 helped the Packers win 27-23, standing out most recently.
Luckily for football fans, both Rodgers and Matthew Stafford aren’t showing any signs of slowing down soon under center. This will help keep this NFC North battle between the Packers and Lions alive for years to come.
