1. Rosen needs all of the extra help possible
Last year when the Cardinals decided to trade up and use a first-round pick on Rosen, they knew he was still going to be a work in progress before the time came where the youngster was playing on an elite level.
One year later after receiving some surprise starting experience as a rookie, the circumstances appear to be the same for Rosen when it comes to still being in need of work development wise before being on the level the Dolphins need him to be.
To go from starting most games as a rookie to returning to a backup role behind Fitzpatrick would only set Rosen back a step in his progress, which is the last thing Miami should want to do.
From Miami’s perspective, this is a team with nothing to lose in 2019, and should want Rosen to reach that next stage in the development process as quickly as possible.
Even if Rosen’s first season with the Dolphins turned out to be rough at times, the experience is something that can be beneficial for both parties in the long run.
And who knows, maybe Rosen will end up earning the starting job while playing better than expected for the Dolphins in 2019, but the only way this could possibly happen is if Miami rolls with him as the starter over Fitzpatrick.
