2. Jones clearly needs the development

As mentioned before, the Giants pulled off one of the biggest surprises from the first round by making Jones the second quarterback selected, mainly because many believe he would have still been there at No. 17.

In fact, the argument can even be made that Jones could have even slipped to the second round, but instead of wondering what could have been, New York is focused on helping their quarterback develop into the player they need him to be.

This may take some time, but also doesn’t that help make the case to play Jones sooner rather than later? If anything, the Giants should want Jones to reach this level as soon as possible.

One of the best ways to help players develop in the NFL is to have them gain as much playing experience as possible early on, and the Giants shouldn’t let their feelings towards Manning stand in the way of what’s best for the team in the long run.

Any experience Jones can receive as a rookie will only help speed up that development process, and the sooner that happens, the quicker New York can hopefully become contenders again in the NFC East since it seems like forever.
