1. Giants most likely won’t be contenders in 2019

Back in 2016 when they finished 11-5 and earned a trip to the playoffs, the Giants appeared to be a team on the rise in the NFC before going on to win just eight games over the last two seasons.

For reasons that are difficult to explain, New York has struggled to live up to the expectations to be contenders, and even though the team feels confident after a successful draft, the chances of them competing in 2019 seems slim.

Not to mention, the Giants already face plenty of extra pressure for their questionable decision to trade Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns this offseason since his talent alone seems irreplaceable, and it’s still mind blowing to think about how he’s no longer around.

No current member of New York is going to come anywhere close to playing at the high level Beckham is on, and when taking this into consideration with a few other factors holding them back, it’s tough to imagine the Giants being serious contenders during the 2019 season.

If this happens to be the case, New York would have nothing to lose by going with Jones right away as a rookie over Manning since the main focus should be on the long-term picture.
