USC. Cameron Smith. 60. Pick Analysis. LB. 162. player. Scouting Report

The Minnesota Vikings really impressed this draft. They landed two starting caliber players right off the bat with North Carolina State center Garrett Bradbury and Alabama tight end Irv Smith. Then, they added two more players who could develop into starters in Boise State running back Alexander Mattison and Oklahoma guard Dru Samia.

The moves for Mattison and Smith add to positions of strength. Mattison should back up Dalvin Cook and help the team forget about losing Latavius Murray, while Irv Smith gives them an incredible second tight end to work alongside Kyle Rudolph.

It was also some great forward thinking, as the team may not be able to keep Rudolph once his deal is up, so Smith gives them options going forward.

The selections of Bradbury and Samia add to areas of concern. The Vikings offensive line had issues in 2018 and these two could help shore things up. As for their biggest steal, that belongs to USC linebacker Cameron Smith.

For some reason, NFL teams just seemed to be cool on Smith, which made little sense. He was a highly productive player who never had less than 78 tackles in a season for the Trojans. He finished his career in Southern California with 354 tackles, 26.5 for a loss, 3.5 sacks and four interceptions.

The Vikings had a need for a third linebacker and it would be less than surprising to see Smith fill that role quickly for them. Head coach Mike Zimmer and company are entering a huge season for them, and this stellar draft haul should help tremendously.
