157. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. Minnesota. Blake Cashman. 30

The New York Jets defense will look much different this season after they spent four picks on that side of the ball. This includes landing Quinnen Williams in the first round and Jachai Polite in the second round. Those two defenders will change the front-four for the better, as the Jets now have two legitimate pass rushers on their line.

As for Polite, the question will center around being able to keep him motivated. Questions about his attitude and coachability dominated the NFL Scouting Combine, which led to a drop for a player with first-round talent. Because of those concerns, his fall made sense. The one that didn’t was Blake Cashman from Minnesota.

The former Gopher linebacker recorded 104 tackles in his final season and then tore up the combine, which included running the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. In addition to his workouts, Jon Ledyard of The Draft Network loved his tape. In fact, he called him a day two target and said he’s a three-down linebacker as well.

"“There is zero question that Cashman has the athleticism and coverage ability to play all three downs in the NFL, preferably as a WILL linebacker. Cashman is at his best when he can get ID quickly and get on his horse, showing quick feet and clean processing to find the ball and arrive on schedule. ” — Ledyard, The Draft Network"

Head coach Adam Gase has weapons on offense now with Sam Darnold entering year two and the team winning the Le’Veon Bell sweepstakes. That means offense shouldn’t be what holds them back. After this draft, there’s hope the defense won’t either.
