LB. Arkansas. Dre Greenlaw. 148. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 42. player

The San Francisco 49ers landed two studs early in the draft in defensive end Nick Bosa out of Ohio State and wide receiver Deebo Samuel from South Carolina.

Bosa was considered the best pass rusher in the class and has some of the best bloodlines in the sport. As for Samuel, this kid is a technician when it comes to running routes and could be even better in the pros with more consistent quarterback play.

After that, they went rogue in the third and fourth round. Baylor wide receiver Jalen Hurd is an interesting prospect. He has great size and was a 1,000-yard running back at Tennessee before changing position and schools. However, this felt super early for him. Also early was getting a punter in the fourth round.

Sure, Mitch Wishnowsky is a weapon on special teams, but this felt very high for him. Not since Nathan Peterman has a guy with the sole job of giving the ball to the other team gone this early.

However, they made up for it with the selection of Dre Greenlaw and Kaden Smith in the fifth and sixth rounds. Smith is going to give them great depth behind George Kittle, but Greenlaw could develop into a starter in the near future.

Greenlaw’s largest fault is his size. He came into the Combine at 5-foot-11 and 237 pounds, but just didn’t wow anyone with his play. Still, he spent his entire Razorback career being around the ball and was solid in pass coverage. He may never be a Pro Bowl player, but he’s not a liability and could make them look very wise.
