Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey has become untouchable in Northeast Ohio. In just two offseasons, he’s completely transformed this franchise and has them trending upward. He landed Baker Mayfield first overall in 2018 and then brought over Jarvis Landry, Olivier Vernon, Damarious Randall and Odell Beckham Jr.

The collection of stars has helped them become a new ‘destination team‘, as suddenly draft prospects were professing their wish to play for the Browns.

Even with those added pressures, Dorsey didn’t seem bothered and came out swinging in the 2019 NFL Draft. While he did get great value with Mack Wilson at No. 155, it was their first pick that ended up being the biggest steal for them.

In need of a second starting cornerback, the Browns options were limited after trading the No. 17 overall pick to the New York Giants in the Beckham trade. Still, they managed to land a sure-fire starter by trading up for LSU’s Greedy Williams — who was the No. 1 corner on many draft boards.

The Browns moved from 49 to 46 to make sure they got their guy. All it cost them was one of their three picks in the fifth round. That’s a small price to pay to leapfrog any other teams considering landing the talented Williams.

Cleveland took some heat for their picks that followed, as Sione Takitaki felt like a reach at No. 80 and Sheldrick Redwine will need some work to become a starter. They also landed a kicker in the fifth round, which seemed premature. Still, they started out the draft strong and solidified their defense with Williams.
