Washington Redskins: Grading every 2019 NFL Draft pick
By Hunter Noll
Round 5, Pick 153: Ross Pierschbacher, IOL, Alabama
The Washington Redskins went back-to-back offensive linemen with this pick. It absolutely makes sense, too. As mentioned before, the Redskins offensive line is desperate for depth. Pierschbacher is versatile, as he played both guard and center at Alabama. At 6-4, 307 pounds, he’s another massive body that can fight for a starting position at guard with the Redskins.
This wasn’t the sexiest pick of the draft, and it seems not the most popular either. However, it’s hard to argue with his ability to play multiple positions. Pierschbacher is an absolute value pick in the fifth round.

Round 5, Pick 173: Cole Holcomb, LB, North Carolina
This is a great pick this late in the draft. Cole Holcomb has that late-round grinder feel. He’s someone that isn’t well known and was taken late in the draft, but you could see him finding his way onto the field often. The middle linebacker out of the North Carolina is the second of his kind this draft (along with Bryce Love) for the Redskins. He won’t be fighting for a starting role with Washington this summer.
Holcomb was drafted with the knowledge that, barring injuries, he won’t be a starter Week 1. However, the middle linebacker could still play a vital role as depth. He’s incredibly smart on the field and a sure tackler. Washington’s been known to find solid linebackers out of nowhere and Holcomb has the makeup to be the next in line.
