Final Team Grade

You’ll be hard-pressed to find many teams that made off better than the Washington Redskins did in the 2019 NFL Draft. In fact, there’s definitely a case to be made they had the best draft in the entire NFL.

Even if you disagree with that, you can’t argue that Day 1 was absolute perfection. The Redskins managed to find their franchise quarterback with the 15th overall pick in Haskins. They also managed to get an elite pass-rusher at No. 26 overall with Sweat.

Then they got a weapon for Haskins and someone he’s familiar with in McLaurin in the third round. This immediately improves their weak receiving corps. The fourth round saw them take Love to create a potential two-headed monster with Derrius Guice at running back. Then they drafted Martin at guard to not only add depth to the offensive line but potentially fight for a starting spot.

The fifth round added another offensive lineman in Pierschbacher. He brings versatility to the interior and like Martin will fight for a starting spot while adding depth. They also depth at middle linebacker in Holcomb – who could find his way onto the field quick. Harmon at receiver was next in the sixth round, a steal and someone who beefs up the receivers pretty quick. He’ll also make an immediate impact on the offense.

Finally, the seventh round saw the Redskins draft a sleeper at defensive back in Jimmy Moreland. He’ll find the ball and could play either cornerback or safety. If they give him time, he’ll contribute nicely. The last pick was another pass-rusher in Brailford. Although they already have depth at the position, it’s hard to argue with his resume and physical tools.

The Washington Redskins did everything they needed to in this draft. They filled positions of need while adding stars and depth at others. Easily one of the best drafts on paper in recent years for Washington
