Kliff Kingsbury got his dream quarterback as the Arizona Cardinals are preparing to launch their aerial assault on the NFL.

Kliff Kingsbury asked and he received. The Arizona Cardinals selected Kyler Murray as the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Now, Kingsbury is preparing his air raid offense for an all-out aerial assault on opposing defenses.

Murray has been given the reins to the offense after Josh Rosen was traded to Miami. Cardinals fans will not be disappointed in the new direction at quarterback. Murray played in the same type of offense at Oklahoma under Lincoln Riley that Kingsbury will run in Arizona. Remember, Kingsbury and Riley played together at Texas Tech under Mike Leach, in 2002.

Arizona added four more receivers in the draft. They selected Andy Isabella as a slot receiver in the second round. The Cardinals also selected Hakeem Butler in the fourth and Keesean Johnson in the fifth round. Even Mr. Irrelevant was a tight end from UCLA, Caleb Wilson.

Expect Kingsbury to spread the field with receivers, at all times. Peter King of NBC Sports reported the following comments from the Cards’ head coach:

"“We’re going to play the game at times wider than probably most people do in the league. We’re going to use the entire field and make them cover five wides and the quarterback and that’s tough on defenses.”"

If you thought Air Coryell was innovative, just wait for what Kingsbury has planned to unleash this upcoming season. David Johnson should see his production grow as a result. Larry Fitzgerald, the ageless one, might hang around longer than he originally expects.

Kingsbury will bring a different type of offense than Kansas City and the Los Angeles Rams. They are basically a play action type instead of the wide-open aerial assault of Kingsbury. Think of the air raid attack as the old run and shoot offense on PEDs.

The preseason will be exciting to see the implementation of the new offense. Also, new faces on defense will be fun to watch too.
