A way too early prediction of the Dallas Cowboys 53-man roster following the 2019 NFL Draft and undrafted free agent signings
The 2019 NFL Draft has come and gone, and with it is the speculation on what the Dallas Cowboys will be doing to address their needs ahead of the season. Their biggest needs heading into the offseason happened to be safety, tight end, slot receiver, and the defensive line.
Before the draft, they addressed most of those concerns. George Iloka signed as a free agent to play strong safety, Jason Witten returned after a year of retirement to join the younger options already on the roster, and Randall Cobb signed to replace Cole Beasley.
As for the defensive line, Dallas traded for Robert Quinn to start at right end and picked up Christian Covington to play in their rotation at defensive tackle. This left the three-technique tackle as their biggest area of concern and that was addressed when they were on the clock in the second round.
There, Dallas landed UCF defensive tackle Trysten Hill. He’s a game-wrecker on the D-Line, when he’s locked in. That’s where the coaching staff will earn their money because Hill is not always focused. He will need to be pushed but seems to be ready to get to work with Rod Marinelli.
After that, they added more help to the offensive line with Connor McGovern and later added a couple of running backs in Tony Pollard and Mike Weber. Dallas then went out and picked up plenty of talent in the undrafted free agent ranks.
All these additions have created some great competition for their 2019 depth chart. We take an early look at that here and predict the 53 man roster following the draft and subsequent free agent signings.
