Indianapolis Colts: 3 Players on the roster bubble after 2019 NFL Draft
The Indianapolis Colts made 10 draft picks this year, and that’s going to reduce the number of roster spots. These guys are on that bubble.
The Indianapolis Colts went into the 2019 NFL Draft and did a lot of moving around. General manager Chris Ballard was also aggressive in targeting the team’s weaknesses. He got cornerback and wide receiver help early, and he selected 10 prospects in total.
Not all of those players are going to make the final roster, but a number of them will, especially with the value of having cheap contracts surrounding an already-paid franchise quarterback. That’s going to likely push some of the incumbent players onto the roster bubble.
Some of these roster bubble players are recent draft picks that have underachieved. Others are veterans that were depth pieces in the past, but the team has better options now thanks to their draft picks. The Colts like to have a good amount of depth on their squad, and that will just make the roster battles this summer all the more heated. The margins will be close and it will be a tight battle.
All three of these guys who could be on the roster bubble were directly impacted by the 2019 draft. Younger guys with higher ceilings were added at their position and, at the end of the day, you want guys with the chance to be the best players that are going to give you the best chance to win a title. Owner Jim Irsay recently guaranteed a title, so they can’t afford to be messing around with words like that being thrown around.
With that, let’s look at the players who could be on the wrong side of the Colts’ 53-man cut line after the draft.
