Recently, the New England Patriots have added a trio of proven veterans on offense. How will they fit in with the defending Super Bowl champions?

The losses this offseason for Bill Belichick’s defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots were indeed significant. Of course, that’s certainly been the case in other years for the Patriots. And despite the predictions of some that the dynasty is over in Foxborough, the club continues to not only win but gather Lombardi Trophies.

Make it eight straight trips to the AFC title game, three straight Super Bowl appearances and four in the last five years and three NFL titles in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

The names on the list of departures are certainly impressive and they’re led by the retirement of powerful and productive tight end Rob Gronkowski. Left tackle Trent Brown left for the Bay Area and signed a huge deal with the Oakland Raiders. Standout pass rusher Trey Flowers is now a member of the Detroit Lions. Former first-round pick Malcom Brown is now a member of the New Orleans Saints’ defensive front.

Elsewhere, wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson inked a deal with the Chicago Bears, cornerback Eric Rowe joined the Miami Dolphins and wideout Chris Hogan head down to Carolina. Again, some of these players have played big roles in the team’s recent success.

Of course, New England didn’t stand pat. Belichick traded with the Philadelphia Eagles to obtain defensive end Michael Bennett. The club also added tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, to name but a few of veterans acquired via free agency. But within the last week, the Patriots secured the services of three veterans (in order of appearance) who could all have a significant impact in 2019.
