Philadelphia Eagles, RB, Miles Sanders (No. 53 overall)

Offensively, the Eagles are going to dominate. Taking JJ Arcega-Whiteside was another genius move by Howie Roseman. He’s a big body who works the middle of the field, dominating with leverage and route running. While he’s one rookie who makes a lot of sense, his 2019 draft-mate, Miles Sanders, didn’t.

We know the Eagles like to use a running back by committee and, usually, that means two backs with specific talents. More specifically, having a back who adds receiving ability to complement a power runner Sanders doesn’t do that.

Taking Sanders in the second round was a reach considering he doesn’t bring any elite traits that complement Jordan Howard, who they traded for this offseason. Sanders is a patient powerful back who performs best in a man blocking scheme, identical to Howard.

A couple of players who were still available were, Justice Hill, Devin Singletary and Bryce Love, who all project as receiving backs. Hill has elite speed and quickness. The same goes for Love. Singletary, while he doesn’t have elite timed speed, plays faster and makes guys miss, capable of being an Alvin Kamara type player.

The aforementioned backs were available in the third and fourth rounds, which would’ve allowed the Eagles the chance to take a better prospect in the second.
