Washington Redskins, RB, Bryce Love (No. 112 overall)
The Washington Redskins front office gets pummeled by the media and, for the most part, deservedly so. However, in the case of the 2019 NFL Draft, they handled business. They landed the quarterback of the future, Dwayne Haskins, who fell into their laps at No. 15. Montez Sweat was an excellent addition as well and Kelvin Harmon was a steal in the sixth round who could contribute as a rookie.
Meanwhile, Bryce Love, who they selected in Round 4, is an explosive back who can develop into a dynamic weapon for Haskins. He makes people miss in the open field and has good hands. However, he’s coming off a torn ACL, which makes him a solid stash option — but this isn’t fantasy.
Adrian Peterson is ageless but it’s understandable why the Redskins would want a young guy. But they drafted one last season in Derrius Guice, who’s also coming off an ACL injury suffered last preseason. Behind Guice is Samaje Perine, a back with great power and deceptive speed.
If the Redskins wanted a depth player who fits their offense, why not take a tight end? Jordan Reed’s injury history is worrisome and Vernon Davis is simply old. A player like LSU’s Foster Moreau made for a better option. He’s a great blocker and uses his body to box out guys as a receiver.
Moreover, a tight end like Moreau provides help in the run game, something the Redskins will need no matter who starts at quarterback. There was better value and were more sensible selections to be made in the fourth round than Love.
