Grading every NFL team’s 2019 offseason

Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers put all their eggs in the draft basket this offseason as they were very inactive in free agency. They lost wide receiver Tyrell Williams and didn’t try too hard to replace him. Their biggest move overall was to land Tyrod Taylor as their backup quarterback.
This gives them a quality player should something ever happen to Philip Rivers but the 37-year-old has played all 16 games since taking over as the full-time starter way back in 2006. Taylor could come in handy as a mentor to Easton Stick, the North Dakota State quarterback who was drafted in the fifth round. He followed Carson Wentz in college and has a lot of the leadership traits teams covet but needs some work at the next level.
Before drafting Stick, the Bolts beefed up both sides of the line and got a second starting safety. In the first, they added Notre Dame’s Jerry Tillery in the first who will be a great addition to a talented defensive line that features Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. They also added Trey Pipkins from Sioux Falls, a 6-6, 309-pound offensive tackle who could develop into a starter down the road.
In between those two picks, they took Nasir Adderley from Delaware. He should be a great addition to go alongside Derwin James who was a stud as a rookie a season ago. The defense should be much better this season and the offense will continue to roll with Rivers. Not a flashy offseason, but not bad either.
