Grading every NFL team’s 2019 offseason

Miami Dolphins
The biggest two moves for the Miami Dolphins were them moving on from head coach Adam Gase and quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Both were needed moves as Gase had waged a war on the locker room with no substantial success coming from this. As for Tannehill, he never proved that he could take the next step in his development and also struggled with injuries.
At first, they replaced him with Ryan Fitzpatrick, which had everyone thinking they were tanking. However, they proved that wasn’t the case as they made a trade for Josh Rosen during the draft which gives them a young player under center.
As for replacing Gase, they went after Brian Flores from the New England Patriots. Just like the Detroit Lions earlier, the fear is that Flores won’t replicate the success he had with New England — as most of their assistants have struggled with.
In free agency, they were quiet and in the draft Flores focused on defense early, landing Christian Wilkins from Clemson. There wasn’t a whole lot more to speak of but they may have gotten a seventh-round steal in Myles Gaskin out of Washington. The highly-productive back churned out a ton of yards for the Huskies and could be a great compliment in their backfield.
While they proved they weren’t tanking with the Rosen trade, there are concerns. He was shipped off after one bad season and Flores needs to prove he’s not another New England assistant who will struggle away from their head coach. They made good moves, but they’re still a ways off.
