New York Jets
It’s really hard to get excited about the New York Jets this season. They went out and hired Adam Gase as their new head coach, which feels like a reach. Gase went 10-6 in his first season with Miami back in 2016 but then spent the next two seasons destroying morale and shipping off good players. They were 13-19 in that stretch and he was fired after just three seasons.
He was likely hired because of his history working with quarterbacks, and they need someone to push Sam Darnold forward. However, Gase didn’t have much success with Ryan Tannehill which means there’s no guarantee he’s the right guy for Darnold. There are also already rumors about Gase and general manager Mike Maccagnan having a rift. Gase refutes them, but his reputation makes it hard to believe there’s not some truth there.
The addition of Gase wasn’t their worst move of the offseason though. That honor belongs to the change made in their uniform, which is just ugly. They stole a look from the Saskatchewan Roughriders but made it look worse.
They did end up landing Le’Veon Bell, but he got a lot of money for a guy who sat out all of last year. Their best move was clearly adding Quinnen Williams in the draft who should help their defensive line tremendously ant, but overall this wasn’t a good offseason in the Big Apple even with the Bell move.
