Chicago Bears

For whatever reason, the Chicago Bears were adamant about moving on from running back Jordan Howard despite him being successful throughout his first three seasons in the NFL. After some speculation he could be moved in 2018, he finally was sent packing this offseason in a lopsided trade. He was sent to the Philadelphia Eagles and, in exchange, Chicago got a mere sixth-round pick in 2020.

Not only did they get a terrible return on their investment in him, but they also created a hole in their roster considering Tarik Cohen isn’t an every-down back. This severely handicapped them in a draft where they were already without a first or second-round pick. Once finally on the clock, they added David Montgomery, a running back out of Iowa State — a decent pick, but they could have used help elsewhere which they could have done had they not traded Howard for nothing.

Basically, they forced their own hand in this trade and made it to where they couldn’t attack holes until the fourth round. There, they landed Riley Ridley, who joins a packed receiver corps with Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller and free agent addition Cordarrelle Patterson. That’s a lot of pass catchers for a team that isn’t great at throwing the ball.
