Oakland Raiders: 3 Free agents who could provide immediate impact
The Oakland Raiders filled several roster holes during the first waves of free agency and the draft, but the team should consider a few available talents.
It’s never too late to acquire talent off the free-agent market, especially veterans who can provide an immediate impact. The Oakland Raiders covered several holes through the first two months of the offseason, but team brass can still work on some shallow areas on the depth chart.
The Raiders found their foundational assets in the draft — now they can add veterans (under 30 years old), who can produce and set an example for the young talent. The Silver and Black will need first- and second-year players to step into prominent roles, but battle-tested acquisitions could become the glue for this roster.
What’s the benefit in signing with the Raiders?
Oakland has a relatively young squad, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. A six-year veteran can potentially earn a starting role to revitalize his career. With a maximum of 90 roster spots, the competition will give players of any status a chance to contribute to this team in the upcoming season.
At this point in the year, free agents available will likely keep an open mind for one-year deals; a strong 2019 campaign could become a launching pad for next offseason.
