Trades

Outside of their draft day trades, which weren’t much to speak of as they only dropped down and added more late-round picks, the Cowboys only made one trade this offseason. Still, it was a big one.

Needing a new right defensive end, Dallas started a flirtation with Robert Quinn who was allowed by the Miami Dolphins to seek a trade partner. It took some time to work things out, but the Cowboys somehow landed Quinn for a mere 2020 sixth-round pick. On top of that, they re-worked his deal to save some money in the process.

Quinn offers Dallas a shot at their best defensive end duo in years as he will pair with DeMarcus Lawrence who lines up on the left side. At one point, Quinn was one of the best in the game as he has 19 sacks in 2013 with the St. Louis Rams.

However, injuries started to slow him down and he was sent to Miami last season. While in South Beach, he managed to play all 16 games, which is promising. His numbers were down, but Quinn still had 6.5 sacks and could be even better considering the attention that will be paid to Lawrence across from him.

Dallas wanted him badly but didn’t give up too much. It was a great move on their part and could pay huge dividends.
