2013 – Luke Willson (158th overall)

You could say the 2013 draft class was forgettable. The Seahawks selected 11 players that year, but only three of them actually took snaps on teams this past season. The other eight are no longer in the league. Underwhelming doesn’t even begin to describe how poor this draft was.

Besides Willson, second round running back Christine Michael (62nd overall) and sixth-round running back Spencer Ware (194th overall) are the only remaining active players from the Seahawks 2013 draft haul.

Michael flunked out of Seattle after just over two seasons before returning in 2016 briefly. The Colts cut Michael in late September last season. Ware was only in Seattle for 2013 before being cut by the team in August of 2014. Since then he’s been signed and cut by the Chiefs several times but has accumulated 1,570 rushing yards in Kansas City. Ware recently signed a one-year deal with the Colts.

Willson had more staying power in Seattle than Michael and Ware and the tight end even became a fan favorite. The fifth round selection spent the first five years of his career with the Seahawks before departing for Detroit last offseason. While Willson never posted big numbers on the field, he and Russell Wilson had a good connection and the tight end wasn’t afraid of blocking larger players.

Willson recorded 89 receptions, 1,129 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns with the Seahawks. After his one-year stint in Detroit, where he set career lows in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns, Willson recently signed with the Raiders on another one-year deal.
