General manager Howie Roseman continues to reinforce the roster of the Philadelphia Eagles by bringing back key pieces such as Stefen Wisniewski.

If there’s any team in the league that knows something about the importance of depth, it’s the Philadelphia Eagles. Back in 2017, Doug Pederson’s club would go onto win Super Bowl LII with a backups at quarterback, middle linebacker and left tackle.

And this offseason, general manager Howie Roseman has put a premium in making sure this squad has plenty of quality reinforcement in the trenches.

This week, the Birds brought back one of their most versatile offensive lineman in 30-year old Stefen Wisnieswki. Via Spotrac, the well-traveled performer inked a one-year, $1.5 million to return to the City of Brotherly Love for a fourth consecutive season.

The 6-3, 305-pound pro enters his ninth campaign in the National Football League and has proven to be a quality reserve with the Eagles after being a primary starter with the Oakland Raiders (2011-14) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2015) during his first five seasons in the NFL. He was a 16-game starter in three of those seasons and all told, was in his team’s opening lineup for all but three contests over that span.

With Pederson’s club, Wisniewski has played in 46 regular-season tilts and made 24 starts over the past three seasons. He was also Philadelphia’s starting left guard during the team’s three-game Super Bowl championship run in 2017. The Birds allowed him to test the free-agent market and now Roseman has brought back the versatile blocker at a very manageable price.

When you look at the moves these Philadelphia Eagles have made over the last few months in terms of stocking both the offensive and defensive lines, the team bears some strong similarities to the one that finished 13-3 in 2017 and went onto win an NFL title. There’s a long way to go before there’s any talk of getting back to a Super Bowl, but Roseman is once again putting the proper pieces in place.
