Right place, right time

If necessity was the mother of invention, then Kingsbury and Murray may be in the right place at the right time.

The NFL has been trending towards an offensive type of game that lends to the success being seen with teams like the Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints. All three of those teams were explosive, with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes showing what the future of the position may look like, if it doesn’t already.

Murray has that. He has the “it factor.” With a coach like Kingsbury and an organization desperate to not be what they have been, the opportunity is ripe for something game-changing. Ultimately, it may be the intangibles he possesses that make the Cardinals a contender, if not competitive, sooner rather than later.

Arizona made a drastic change. They let go a head coach who never really had a chance, and a quarterback set up to fail. Criticize them as much as you want, but they were smart enough to recognize a need for the kind of change that made them nothing short of a laughing stock.

Murray and Kingsbury can and should change that perception. The talent is undeniable. The potential is also unproven. Kingsbury may be a flop. Murray may too.

The Cardinals might be on the precipice of something amazing because they needed that to be the case. They needed a home run, no pun intended. Murray can deliver that, especially if Kingsbury gets this right.
